"Douglas Gordon by Douglas Gordon" is an intimate portrait of the Turner Prize-winning artist set entirely within his Berlin studio. The film blurs reality and performance and allows viewers into the filmmaking process.
Raised in a rough Scottish housing estate by Jehovah's Witness parents during the Margaret Thatcher era, Gordon is among the most important and influential artists of his generation. Best known for his films and large-scale video installations such as the Turner prize winning "24 Hour Psycho" and the 2006 Cannes masterpiece "Zidane: A 21st Century Portrait".
We experience his rise to prominence, the making of new work and reflections on aging. Gordon reveals his authentic self often through spontaneous acts and as the filmmaker-subject relationship shifts from collaborative intimacy to a more complex dynamic it questions who is really making the film?
Through this multifaceted portrait, we witness how Gordon has sacrificed everything for his art
