What causes a person to step away from society and lead a life of isolation, far from the modern world? This is a tender and intimate film set in the Scottish Highlands, where a spirited elderly hermit reevaluates his life after 40 years of solitude. The film tracks the growing friendship between aging protagonist and young female director, as he tackles ill health and a declining memory, and questions whether he can live out his last years in the wilderness he calls home.
