New Connections: Artist Filmmaker and Producer Mixer - Open for Applications
- Are you an artist filmmaker* working creatively with non-fiction**?
- Do you have a new film project in development?
- Are you looking to connect with a lead producer or additional producers for your film?
This is a chance to share your work, meet producers and form new connections.
We are looking for 10 artists/filmmakers to present their creative non-fiction projects to a group of invited producers at an informal mixer event at LUX, London on Fri 11 Sep, 5pm - 9.30pm. We will ask each artist filmmaker to briefly introduce themselves and their projects and then there will be time afterwards for chatting. Rather than a formal pitch, these short presentations are designed to introduce your project, open up conversations, and create opportunities for future collaboration.
Following the short presentations, we will have an open drinks, refreshments, and discussion space with plenty of time to meet producers and other filmmakers, to exchange ideas in a relaxed setting.
We are looking for film projects at any stage of development that would benefit from this opportunity. This can be a short or a feature film.
What are we looking for?
- Artist filmmakers who are developing a new non-fiction project
- Artist filmmakers who are seeking a producer to upscale their project production ambition, budget and modes of exhibition
- Artist filmmakers working with screen-based moving image or film
- Artist filmmakers making work that is intended for gallery or cinema exhibition
Eligibility
- Please note that this opportunity is restricted to UK-based artist filmmakers.
- You must be over 18 and not currently in full-time education.
- The event will take place in London and unfortunately we are unable to cover travel costs so you must be able to travel to LUX in London at your own expense.
- Please note that this a mixer event to encourage new connections, it is not a funding opportunity and we do not have budget to cover participant expenses.

Notes
* by ‘artist film’ we mean screen-based moving image work that uses film or video as a medium to explore artistic ideas, often through experimental or non-traditional approaches. Often this is rooted in a fine art practice, whilst utilising filmic methods, conventions and references.
** by ‘creative non-fiction’ we mean work that is concerned with and has some grounding in real events, locations, situations or narratives, and can be defined as non-fiction.
This event is organised collaboratively by BFI Doc Society, Film London Artists’ Moving Image Network (FLAMIN) and LUX.
