New Terrains: Clermont-Ferrand 2027 Group Attendance – Open for Applications

The BFI Doc Society Fund is accepting applications from directors and producers with an active short documentary project that is complete or nearing completion to join a group attendance to Clermont-Ferrand International Short Film Festival and Market in February 2027.

Clermont-Ferrand ISFF is the world’s biggest short film festival and a key meeting point for international industry. The festival showcases a wide diversity of the short film form in its public programme (173,000 admissions in 2026) and brings together around 4,000 industry representatives in its Short Film Market.

Selected filmmakers will be accredited to the festival and market, which will provide key networking and learning opportunities to maximise their project’s potential, including meeting and hearing from programmers, distributors, sales agents, buyers and other industry, as well as international peers.

What are we looking for?

We are looking for short non-fiction film projects that have cinematic scope, take creative risks, and push formal and narrative boundaries, with an intention to distribute on the international festival circuit.

Eligibility

To be eligible to apply, you must:

• Be a UK resident director or producer
• Have a short non-fiction film that:
  • Was completed after June 2026*, or
  • Will be completed prior to December 2026
• Have made at least one short film which has had a festival run
• Have not yet made a feature film (that has had theatrical or festival distribution)
• Have not attended Clermont-Ferrand ISFF in the past
• Be available during the festival dates (Sun 31 Jan - Thu 4 Feb 2027)

* The film can already have premiered at festivals after June 2026.

What costs are covered for participants?:

• 4 nights’ hotel accommodation including breakfast
• Return travel up to £300 (from UK locations only)**
• Festival accreditation
• 1 group dinner
• £200 to support subsistence costs on site

**We ask participants to book their own return travel and invoice Doc Society for reimbursement. If this is an issue please let us know.

We aim to provide access support across the programme where needed. You can include details on this in your application.

We are not able to cover other costs.
